FAQ’S
- What to Wear
Wear what you are comfortable to train in, loose not restrictive clothing with a good pair of runner or x-trainers and a hat for those sunny days. We have sunscreen and fly/insect repellent in the Urban Goddess Van if you ever need to use some - please don't hesitate to ask. It is advisable to bring a jacket to put on for your stretching and cool down set at the commencement of the session.
Dress for the weather and come prepared!
- What to Bring
Don't forget to bring your water, however we do have water in the van if you forget so please just ask. If we leave the park we aim to have a break near bubblers to you can keep hydrated.
All equipment is supplied – training mats, boxing gear and weights, which is all up maintained and cleaned regularly.
- How early do I need to arrive before the session?
Please be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes before the session begins so we start on time and give you the best session possible.
- What if I sign up for the term and miss a session?
If you cannot make your session due to being delayed at work, illness or social commitments we ask you to let us know as soon possible so we can be sure of group sizes. We are happy for you to make up your missed sessions anytime over the 8-week term just as long as you also let us know. We also have week 9 tagged onto the end of the term as a bonus catch up week where you can make up missed sessions and can come to as many sessions as you like regardless of what you have registered for.
- What if it is raining?
Due to the nature of outdoor training we aim to please as best we can to make your sessions enjoyable and comfortable depending on the conditions. We understand that hot and cold temperatures, wind and rain can affect a training session - however this is the nature of OUTDOOR training. Your trainers are experienced to deal with finding the best locations to deal with the elements and make your sessions as pleasant as possible. We encourage you to come to training regardless of the weather as you could be pleasantly surprised and we do not cancel ANY sessions early. Please meet at the your usual training place and if the weather is not suitable we can retreat to Gunnamatta Park for some protection from the rain under shelter. If the weather is extreme we will cancel the session (majority rules) and use the Week 9 bonus catch up week to make up the session. Please note: This will not be decided upon until the time of your session.
- Do we have the same trainer at every session?
We like to offer you variety throughout your sessions and have four qualified female trainers who are experienced and caring and not like a sargeant major. Throughout the term you will meet Melisa, Jess and Lois. We find by mixing up the trainers for your sessions, you will receive variety with their different training styles. Together, our trainers design each terms session routines as a guide to ensure we have consistency throughout the term. Keep in mind we do meet every week to discuss the sessions and keep up to date with what is happening so you can get the best workout possible. Also, your feedback is important to us to ensure we are delivering a program that you are enjoying and gaining results from.
- What if I have an injury?
If you have an injury please inform your trainer at the commencement of your session so we can give you a workout that is suitable. If your injury or sickness will not allow you to attend training for over a period of two weeks please contact us so we can discuss your options. A doctors certificate will be required if you cannot continue with your training to receive a refund. A refund cheque will be posted out to you minus the sessions you have already attended and plus an administration fee of $20.00. We can also arrange to carry over your registration to the following term and will endeavor to look after you as best as possible.
- What if I decide I don’t want to continue training and registered for the term?
No refunds, credits, or transfers are given for partially attended sessions or terms, circumstances such illness or injury will be taken into consideration.
- What if I’m having a low energy day and lacking motivation?
If you're just having a low energy day or not feeling motivated to come to training, just let us know. It’s better to attend and have a lighter session than to not come at all. Often just coming in is all it takes to get motivated and group exercise is fun!
- How do I pay for “Beach Camp for Goddesses” training?
To offer a progressive training program it is encouraged to sign up for the term. Payment can be made online or by cheque or cash. Booking ahead will guarantee your place, and commit you to a progressive training program. When a “Goddess” signs up for the term she will receive a training singlet and will be in the running for the “Gold Star Goddess” which is awarded at the end of each term.
- How did Beach Camp for Goddesses begin?
“I recognised that there was a need for an outdoor women’s group exercise class offering correct exercise technique, variety and results with out the extremity of a hardcore boot camp but that of a softer approach to give them a challenging yet fun exercise program working on improving their fitness, strength and flexibility, whilst outdoors in fresh air.” Says Melisa
- Is there an age limit for group exercise classes?
Beach Camp for Goddesses is targeted at women for ages and fitness levels. Women who want to exercise, but may lack the motivation and drive. Exercising in a group situation keeps up the motivation and pushes you harder than you would whilst exercising on your own.
- What are the group sizes and is there a limit?
There is a variety of exercise and fitness techniques, yet it is important to give individual instruction whilst training. As such, group sizes are kept to a maximum of 16. Encouragement is given to help achieve your goals without being yelled at or punished for not being able to complete certain exercises. If the group is larger than 16 two trainers will be present and the group will be divided.
